Rick seems happy as the leader of a seemingly perfect community and still in a relationship with Andrea but he has an easily snapped temper for people that step out of line. One thing I must comment on is Carl’s hideous new look that seems to be a cross of a few hideous fashion trends but I guess there isn’t a lot of option for stylish clothing anymore. I also wasn’t expecting the two-year time jump from Volume 21 to Volume 22: A New Beginning! That was such a large gap and I’m surprised that all seemed to go relatively well over those two years.

I was impressed with the way Rick handled the situation in Volume 21 and it was an outcome I didn’t expect. Negan had steadily lost the spark that made him such a frightening villain and quickly became just another lost soul in the death-filled world they now live in. I enjoyed reading about the war through the perspectives of Rick and Negan’s people but after the first three volumes it started to tire. This war unfolds throughout five of the eight chapters until it wraps at neatly in Volume 21: All Out War – Part Two. The majority of the compendium is heavily focused on the war between Rick and Negan with the help of Hilltop and The Kingdom. I love this compendium because it makes it so simple to binge on the comics but the tall and large book definitely weighs you down even if it would make a pretty good weapon against a walker.

In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally start living.Ī thousand pages of Walking Dead comics is a beautiful sight to look upon but not so great to hold. In a matter of months, society has crumbled – no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV.

An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. The world of commerce and frivolous necessity has been replaced by a world of survival and responsibility.
